Important Notice Regarding Submission of Annual Returns by Trade Unions

It has been observed that certain trade unions have been submitting Annual Returns containing defective and unlawful particulars, particularly regarding information about their office bearers.
As per Sub-section 2 of Section 22 of the Trade Unions Act, 1926 (as amended), retired employees of industrial establishments are debarred from holding office in the trade union. Outsiders may only be included as Honorary Members and may be considered only for posts within the Executive Committee.
Further, any person not in employment is disqualified from being elected or nominated as:
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Chief Executive Officer
- Chief Financial Officer (or any similar designation)
This directive is issued with the approval of the competent authority.
Trade unions are advised to comply strictly with the above stipulations while filing their annual returns to avoid any legal or procedural discrepancies.

Public Holiday Notification – 14th April 2025
This is to inform all concerned that Monday, 14th April 2025, will be observed as a Public Holiday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
As per the Office Memorandum issued by the U.T. Administration of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, this holiday is applicable to all Government Offices, Semi-Government Offices, Local Bodies, Commercial Banks, Industrial Establishments, and Public Sector Undertakings across the Union Territory.
This holiday is declared under the provisions of Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (26 of 1881).
